Obituary of August Ripplinger

RIPPLINGER, August " The family of August are saddened to announce his passing July 14, 2007 at the age of 85. August is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aliza (nee Seitz), his daughters, Freda Ross, Darlene Zand (Danny) and son Bill (Gloria), along with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. August was predeceased by all twelve of his siblings and parents, Peter and Anne. He is also survived by sister-in-law Betty and numerous nieces and nephews. August was born, raised and educated in Kendal. He served in the army in WWII and later farmed with Aliza in the Kendal area before moving his family to Regina in 1956. He worked as a homebuilder and mechanic before starting his job at St. Andrews School, which would later be known as his second home. In 1960 he started this part of his career that defined him in many ways. He cared for the teachers and students as if they were his own family and many of the children looked up to him like a grandfather. This was more than a job, it was a passion. Along with his family, it completed him in many ways. From soup to nuts, from hallways to upholstery, there was no challenge he wouldnt attempt for his beloved St. Andrews. His retirement farewell in 1988 was quite the event and was something he cherished to the end. August became very involved with Little Flower Church pouring his heart, soul and voice into the activities of the parish. August will always be remembered as a quiet man with a great sense of humor. He loved his family and always placed them first. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower R. C. Church, 420 College Avenue with Rev. Bill Mahoney presiding. Private family interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined.
