Obituary of Jacob Groenendyk

GROENENDYK " Following a courageous battle with cancer, Jacob Groenendyk passed away peacefully on July 19, at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Adrianes Groenendyk; and sisters, Klaasje Terloo and Mienje Mulder. Jacob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gysje Mary; daughters, Elaine Groenendyk (special friend Larry Gregga) of Regina, Jeanette (Eric) Johansen of Regina, and Diane Dodson of Ottawa; grandchildren Erin, Colin, and Jacob; brother, Huibert (Rita) Groenendyk from Regina; and siblings from Holland, Janna (Adrian) Visbeen, Henk Groenendyk, Lenie Groenendyk, Aren (Ria) Groenendyk, and Adrie (Yvonne) Groenendyk. Other close family members include Simon and Jannie Vanderstoel, Leen and Audrey Wesdyk, Arie and Clary Wesdyk, Henk and Elsie Wesdyk, Nellie Wesdyk, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by many special friends in Regina and overseas. Jake was a devoted husband and family man who will be dearly missed. Many thanks to all those who cared for Jacob during his illness, most especially Dr. Barry Lotz, who was always available for him and was extraordinarily supportive and compassionate. Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 2170 Albert Street on Monday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Stephan Bouwer presiding. Interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
