Obituary of Mike Schebel

SCHEBEL " On Thursday, July 19,2007, Mike Schebel, late of Regina, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine; his first wife, Elizabeth, his stepdaughter Marlene, his brother John, his brother Bill, and his sister Anne. Mike is survived by his wife Doris; his daughter Sylvia Cooper of Medicine Hat; his stepchildren Keith (Shari) Moore, Janice (Doug) Baker, and Brenda (Daryl) Hautz, all of Regina, and step son-in-law Jerry OBrien of Connecticut; nine grandchildren: Jordan, Elizabeth, Christopher (Lisa), Karen, Brett, Kristian (Jeff), Dean (Nicole), Leah (Kiley), Taylor; and three great-grandchildren: Jacob, Robert, Hailey. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. Leonard Romanow presiding. Private family interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Mike was born on March 7, 1922 in Beckenham, Sask. As a young man he worked in the logging camps, a rubber boot factory, and on the family farm. He and his first wife Elizabeth were married and moved to Regina where Mike worked for the City of Regina, Water Works until his retirement in 1987. In 1979, Mike married Doris Moore. Mike and Doris were blessed with over 27 years of marriage which included wonderful dancing, amazing gardens, and loving family and friends. Mike will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Bester and the staff of Parkside Extendicare for their excellent care and compassion. Flowers gratefully declined.
