Obituary of Mary Kang-Yau Tam

TAM - On Friday, August 17, 2007, Mary Kang Yau Tam of Regina passed away at the age of 80 years with her husband and children by her sides. Her parents, David and Gladys Lee, predeceased her. Mary was born on February 24, 1927 in Canton, China. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1965. Mary worked in the family restaurant in Kennedy, SK before moving to Regina in 1971. She joined the General Hospital custodial staff and work there till retirement in 1989. During this time Mary along with her husband Sun Wai raised four children. As their children started their own families she made it a tradition to visit every family frequently and have family reunions. She relished the times when they were all together. The grandchildren were enlightened by her stories and filled by the plentiful and delicious food in her home. We will always remember how happy she was to see us together. Mary is survived by her husband, Sun Wai; four children, Kathy (Arthur) Mah of Slave Lake; Norman (Maggie) Tom of Vancouver; Dale (Winnie) Tam of Vancouver; Ken (Lavinia) Tam of Regina; and eight grandchildren, Nancy Mah (Berlin), Karen Mah (Vancouver), Michelle (Tim) VanGilder of Laguna Niguel; Vincent, Heather Tom (Vancouver); Kevin, Landon, and Benson Tam ( Regina); her sister Kay (Hamm) Chow of Estevan; second sister Rose (Tim) Woo of Toronto. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. A celebration of Marys life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Speers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park.
