Obituary of Sylvia June Stinson

STINSON, June - on Monday, August 27, 2007 " Sylvia June Stinson; late of Regina, passed away suddenly. She was born, June 9, 1922, on the family farm near McCord, Sk. Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Ida (Thackeray) Stinson; infant brother Melville; brother-in-law Edd Grupar, June is survived by her sister Dorothy Grupar, Huntington Beach, California and her brother Glen (Beulah) Stinson, Regina. Also, two nieces, Shelley (Bob Hawkes); Betty Ann (Darryl Price); three nephews, Dan (Gail) Stinson; Dick Stinson; Wes Stinson; Two great nieces; seven great nephews; one great-great niece and two great-great nephews. When she was very young the family moved to Mankota, where she started taking piano lessons and completed high school. She continued her music studies in Regina and Winnipeg where she achieved her A.T.C.M. degree. Her many students, over 50 years of teaching, were her pride and joy. She delighted in having them keep in touch with her long after they had finished their studies with her. June was a long time member of Westminster United Church and enjoyed 60 years of singing in the choir and accompanying soloists and other choir groups, both at the church and throughout Regina. She was especially proud, these last few years, to assist with the Golden Age Choir. The funeral will be held at Westminster United Church, 3025 - 13th. Avenue, Regina, at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007, The Rev.Jack Bray presiding. Private family internment. Friends so wishing may make donations, in Junes memory, to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Westminster United Church Memorial Fund.
