Obituary of Ken Korven

It is with profound sadness we announce the death of Kenneth Garry Korven by suicide. Ken was born in Regina on October 14, 1968 where he lived until his family moved to Port Alberni, BC in 1981. He attended Luther College High School in Regina and the University of Victoria, graduating with a BA in Economics. Ken loved sports and was a good athlete. He was a lifelong learner, an avid reader and always eager to seek and share knowledge and a good laugh. He worked as an industrial radiographer primarily in Cabri, Kindersley, Medicine Hat and Weyburn. Ken’s life revolved around his family and home; he was a devoted father, a patient soul and his generosity and kindness drew people to him wherever he went. He leaves to grieve, his children, Kennedy and Nathen; parents Garry and Carol Korven, Port Alberni; siblings Kristine (Brian), Simon, Declan, Woodinville, WA and Karl, Port Alberni; Michael and Loretta Korven and their children Jennifer, Michelle, Patricia, David and their families; the extended Korven, Kennedy, MacDiarmid, MacNeill and Knutson families. A Remembrance and Celebration Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, a donation in Ken’s memory may be made to the Luther College High School, 1500 Royal Street, Regina, SK, S4T 5A5.
