Obituary of Linda 'Joan' Boyer

BOYER - With great sadness the family of Joan Boyer (nee Linda Joan Elliott) announces that she passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 21, 2007. Joan was born in Grenfell Saskatchewan in 1947 where, except for a brief period in Moosomin, she spent her early years. She received a Master's Degree in French Literature from the University of Regina and, in 1976, her PhD at Lancaster University in England. The majority of her working career was spent with the Government of Saskatchewan. Her work developing and implementing French and other languages for the education system was used throughout Western Canada. Joan was a gentle spirit who valued the simple pleasures of food, wine, gardening, books, music, time with family, and all things natural. She was an avid artist when it came to sewing and knitting, a passion that she shared with her mother. The greatest joy in her life was her daughter Katherine. Joan was predeceased by her father Ernie and her mother Ellen. She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Katherine, brothers Doug (Virginia), Jim, Jerry (Glenda), and Ron (Carol), niece Melanie and nephew Justin. An informal memorial service will be held at the Speers Family centre located at 2333 Cornwall Street on September 25th at 4:00pm. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations in her name can be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or to a charity of your choice.
