Obituary of Vera Marian Ansley

ANSLEY- Vera Marian Ansley (nee Chestnut) died peacefully in the presence of family and friends on September 29, 2007. Vera is predeceased by her parents, George and Maude; one sister Ruth; and one brother Millar; and husband Arnold in 1991. She is survived by her three sons, Brian of Calgary, AB, James of Toronto, ON and David (Gayle) of Vancouver BC., two grandsons, Steven and Stuart, one sister Marjorie Rogers of Kingston, ON. Vera worked for the Eatons Department Store for 25 years in the Furniture Department. She was the first (or one of the first) women in sales for the T. Eaton Co. in Western Canada. She was an early member of the Board of St. James United Church for many years and as a member of that Board helped build that church at its present location. Vera was the Past Matron Excelsior Chapter #21 O.E.S. She loved gardening and music and believed in serving the community. She made a house a home. Her family wish to thank the staff of Pioneer Village Nursing Home, and feel indebted to them for their care of Vera in her last weeks and days. A Memorial Service will be held in Speers Funeral Chapel, (please use College Avenue entrance) 2136 College Avenue on Wednesday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. S. Alan Schooley officiating. Cremation. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers most gratefully declined.
