Obituary of Claude Leo Pitzel

PITZEL, Claude " After a tragic car accident on October 3, 2007, our beloved Claude left us Thursday, October 4, 2007. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Matilda Pitzel; sister Mary Frey; brother Bob Pitzel; brothers-in-law John Campbell and Alex Osachoff; nephews Duncan, Cary Ell and Alexander Osachoff. Claude is survived by his treasured wife Elaine; daughters Karen Pitzel (Ray Hoffman), and Lee Ubell; sons Lyle Pitzel (Debbie), and Neil Pitzel O.S.B. As well, he leaves the grandchildren he was so very proud of, Stephanie Logan (Shayne), Devin and Cierra Ubell, and Mason and Danielle Pitzel. Also left to mourn him are his brothers Gerry (Lois), Joe (Simone), Al (Joyce), Bert (Robin), Mike (Gloria) and Greg (Hannah); his sisters Lucille Bradatsch, Rose Neuman (Richard), Tillie Osachoff, Madeline Pitzel, Collette Holder (Myron), Charlotte Campbell, Valerie Morrell (Dave), and Marjorie Goodenough (Gary); his brother-in-law Fred Frey; sister-in-law Sharon Pitzel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born May 25, 1932 in Bruno, SK, Claude was a quiet man who loved music, making violins, reading and writing poetry, and anything to do with cars. He also loved a challenge, whether solving an intellectual puzzle, or inventing a new tool for use in one of his many creative endeavours. Claudes determination was unequalled; he was constantly setting new learning, creating, inventing or physical goals for himself, and we cannot think of a single goal which he did not achieve, no matter how long it took. A teacher by profession, he taught with Regina Catholic Schools for many years before moving on to SIAST where he held a number of positions, retiring as the Program Co-ordinator of Industrial Programs. Claudes faith was very important to him, colouring all he did. His religious convictions were deeply but quietly held. He wanted his life to be an example to others, and it has been so. Our family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to the remarkable staff of the Emergency Ward and the Medical ICU at Regina General Hospital. To a person they were thoughtful, caring, helpful, and supportive during a difficult and painful time. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct 9th at 1:00 p.m. in Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Burn Unit at Regina General Hospital, 1440 " 14th Avenue, Regina S4P 0W5 would be most appreciated.
