Obituary of Elias Hofer

HOFER - Elias was born September 3, 1948 at Lakeside Hutterite Colony, Cranford, Alberta. He went peacefully to his heavenly home on October 05, 2007 at the Regina General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew. Elias will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his devoted wife, Annie, of 37 years; parents Elizabeth and David; mother and father-in-law, Jacob and Justina of Ponteix, Sask.; sons, James (Miriam), Leonard (Mary), Phillip, Kenneth (Abigail) and beloved daughter, Sandra (Larry) of High River, Alta. He was so proud of his grandchildren: Leroy, Rachelle, Joshua, Leona, Landen, Davis, Reba, Melvin, Anthony, Justin, Adrian, Lorraine, and Nicole. Brothers: Rev. Joe (Kathy), Dave (Lydia), Darius (Bertha), Paul (Dora), Dan (Marie), George (Sarah) will miss his guidance and wisdom. Sisters: Elizabeth (Jake) Wollman, Ponteix, Sask., Kathy (Rev. Jake) Wollman of Raymond, Alta. and Edna Hofer, Arm River Colony, sisters-in-law: Jessie (Joe), Katie (Ben) of Rainbow, Rebbeca (John) of Spring Lake, Mary (Rev. Martin) Webb, and brothers-in-law: Rev. George (Sara), John (Elizabeth), Joe (Katie) and Paul (Susie) of Pontiex will miss his care and compassion. Elias leaves many nieces, nephews, Colony members and wonderful friends to cherish his memory. A service to celebrate and honor Elias life was held at the Hutterite Brethern of Arm River Colony on Monday, October 8th at 10 AM. His family expresses their gratitude to the staff of the Dialysis Unit for their care and kindness. Special thanks to Dr. McHattie and Associates, for the excellent loving care Elias received for the past 12 years, since his liver transplant. We are forever thankful for those extra years. Elias was patient in his suffering and when no hand could ease that suffering, God looked down, felt his pain and gave him peace.
