Obituary of Edith Lesa Anderson

EDITH LESA ANDERSON Edith passed away on August 26th, 2012 at the General Hospital in Regina at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years, Gordon, and parents Hilda Ellen (Nellie) and Frans Joh Gustaf (Gus) Peterson. Edith is survived by her brother Ralph and sister-in-law Betty Peterson; her loving children: Larry (Rose Marie), Lee (Carol), Linda (Terry) and Lance; grandchildren: Tracey (Mike), Sheri (Grant), Stephen (Jenn), Erin (Jason), Shawn and Devon; great-grandchildren: Hayley, Tyler, Bella, Finnigan, Zevin, Lennex, Everlee and Sienna. Edith was born on July 28th, 1918 on the Peterson homestead halfway between Tugaske and Central Butte, Saskatchewan. In 1940 Edith started her career working at the Providence Hospital, Admitting Office at Moose Jaw and remained there until 1947. During this period she met many life long friends. She married the love of her life, Gordon, on January 18th, 1947. In 1958 they moved to Regina with their four children and she worked at the Grey Nuns Hospital. In 1963 she left the hospital and went to work for Medicare, where she worked until her retirement in 1979. It was the early years in Regina when Edith and Gordon fell in love with camping trips to Kenosee and Waskesui. This love affair with the trailer life and fishing would continue for the next forty some years. Literally hundreds of days were spent with friends and family enjoying the beauty of nature. Edith accomplished a lot during her life but she always said the biggest accomplishment of her life by far was her family. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion for anyone in the family. Edith without question was the strong bond that held the family closely together and she did this with unlimited love and support. She liked nothing better than to get together with the family and enjoy her precious children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her love, thoughtfulness, kind heart, contagious giggle and gigantic hugs. Edith recently said: I have had a really good life and I have been very lucky.? We were all so lucky to have had her in our lives. Funeral Service for Edith will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Flowers are graciously declined, however, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in the memory of Edith.
