Obituary of Susan Molly Pradinuk
PRADINUK " Susan Molly (nee Schlotter), born April 25th, 1921, was called home by her Lord, passing away peacefully, at Pasqua Hospital, Thursday, October 25th, 2007. Sue was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by her sons Dan and Ray; daughters-in-law Noreen and Cheryl; grandchildren Sam and Hilary and Mia, Jon and Julian; and by her late husband Mikes three daughters, Bernice (Jim McGraw, deceased), Georgia (Chuck Hambly) and Joyce (Gordie Cowan) and their families; and by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Sue was born on the homestead in the Fox Valley District of SW Saskatchewan to Jacob and Matilda Schlotter, 4th of six children behind John, Ed, and Joe, then Emma, all deceased, and Winn. The family moved to Regina and then to a farm in the Foxleigh District, just north of Regina in 1930. From Sues many stories of the familys life on the farm, they were very close, community minded and resourceful. Sue became accustomed to hard work at an early age, a pattern maintained throughout her life. Moving back into the city, she opened the J&S caf with brother John returned from the war, on east Victoria Avenue. She married Mike in 1946 while working at the Quality Tea Room at 13th and Robinson, which they ran together until Mikes death in 1988, and subsequently with eldest son Dan until March, 2005. The QT, was the hearth of the Cathedral area for 75 years. Sue loved her work life, and the 13th Ave community, befriending many of her customers, fellow shop keepers and all of her staff. She was active for many years in the Daughters of the Nile. She loved to play bridge and she loved cooking dinners at home for family, friends and relatives, the more the merrier. She had a warm smile and an enormous and compassionate heart, was second Mom to several of her sons friends and closest confidant to many of her own. A warm thank you to the caregivers on Ward 3D at Pasqua Hospital and to the friends and neighbors who helped her stay in her Robinson Street home as she so wished, especially Bonnie and Norm from next door. A VISITATION will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, October 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Westminster United Church, 3025 13th Avenue, on Tuesday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
