Obituary of Martha Libia Leon

LEON - Martha Libia Patio de Leon, born on the 15th of July 1951 in Bogota, Colombia, daughter of Guillermo and Bertha Patio, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the age of 56 years. Martha was raised in the Roman Catholic faith and spent the majority of her childhood in the Sisters of the Holy Rosary? Boarding School. At the age of 14, Marthas faith and love of life lead her to Luis Leon who would later become her loving husband and life partner of 40 Years. Before moving to Canada in 1977, Martha gave birth to her son Luis Guillermo Leon and daughter Angelica Maria Leon. Marthas adventurous spirit brought excitement and ease to her transition to the new Canadian culture as her joyous disposition attracted many friendships that would last the rest of her life. With her family and friends Martha would venture from her home in Regina to her secluded spot on Long Lake where the family built a beautiful log cabin in which she used to surround herself with all of her loved ones. Marthas nurturing nature allowed her not only to care for her own children, but also, many other children whom she loved dearly. Martha will always be remembered for the love of gardening, entertaining, dancing and painting. Martha is survived by her mother Bertha Elvira Patio; her husband Luis Maria Leon; her sisters Elvira Patio de Salazar and Fabiola Patio Gutierrez; son and daughter Luis Guillermo Leon and Angelica Maria Howell; and her two grandchildren Luis Christopher Howell and Lily Maria Howell. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at St. Annes R. C. Parish, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, SK. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Holy Rosary Cathedral, 3125 " 13th Avenue, Regina SK with Rev. Thomas Nguyen presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
