Obituary of John McRae Kinnon

KINNON " John Kinnon, following many, many years of various illnesses, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 in Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital with his wife by his side the last twelve days and eleven nights. Predeceased by his parents, William and Maude; siblings, Hazel, Ross, Doug and Bill; also in-laws Verne and Joy Barber, John is survived by his wife of fifty seven years; his sisters Jessie Green and Helen Majury of Regina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was born in Lumsden in 1922, the area in which he went to school and lived all his life. He married LaVerne Barber of Craven in 1950, farmed at Lumsden until his health caused a move into town in 1970. He loved farming and cattle. After his health improved somewhat he did carpentering for some time, always with a helper and usually with LaVerne helping him as well. Our happiest memories are of so many wonderful winters in Arizona, meeting and still in touch with so many wonderful friends. John was just delighted to become a permanent resident of Lumsden Heritage Home on November 13. He loved it and some of the staff he was especially fond of, as hed been a three day a week patient for four years. He got to know who he could manipulate and who he couldnt. In keeping with Johns wishes, there will be no funeral. He will be cremated and interred in Lumsden Cemetery in the oak urn he made himself. Remember him in your own way. We are grateful to all the Palliative Care staff and to Lumsden Heritage Home.
