Obituary of Barbara Marjorie Ethel Hardy

HARDY - Barbara Marjorie Ethel passed away on Friday, January 11th, 2008. She died as she lived, with dignity, compassion and a touch of humour. Barbara was born October 10th, 1922 in London, England where she was raised and educated. She was the 2nd of eight children born to Tom and Eda Falce and is survived by her two youngest brothers, Eric and Robin. Shortly after the 2nd World War broke out, in an act of defiance, Barbara joined the RAF where she was trained as an electrician. It was during this time that she met a tanned young Canadian radar technician with brilliant blue eyes, to whom she said Your eyes dont match the rest of you? and he replied, Well I cant help that?. She married Colin Hardy December 30th, 1944, Their first daughter, Judith was born in England, and after the war, mother and daughter followed Colin to Canada and settled in Regina where Lynn and Colleen were born. Babs was a true artisan. Whatever she set her hand to, produced perfection, whether it was her smocking, knitting, crocheting or sewing. She belonged to the Stitchery Guild and thoroughly enjoyed it until her eyesight became a problem. Barbara remained in her home that Colin built until August of 2007 when her health deteriorated to the point where she needed professional care. There will always be a special attachment for King Street and the wonderful caring neighbours that go with it. She moved into Helping Hands Personal Care Home where she remained until her death at the age of 85 years. We will be forever grateful to those that cared for Mother in her final days. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Colin on March 30th, 2007, her parents, Eda and Tom, three sisters, Eda, Rose and Joyce, and two brothers, Tom and Frank. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Judith (Bryan), Lynn (Cal), Colleen (Doug), her precious grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris), Barbara (Tyler), Michelle (Scott),Jonathan, Andrew, Allison (Nick), Paul (Lee-Ann), Carolyn, great grandchildren, Chance, Hannah and Hayden, brothers Eric (Penny) and Robin (Haiqui), sisters-in-law, Valerie, Alice Garratt and Eileen (Doug) Kent, brothers-in-law, Les Brown, Edgar (Ethel) Hardy, and their children.
