Obituary of Russell Vernon Dorgan

DORGAN, RUSSELL V. passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2008 with his family by his side. Russ was born in Pangman, Saskatchewan on September 29, 1923. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy and returned to Pangman, where he married Gertie Kessler on October 17, 1947. Russ farmed in Pangman and they expanded their family to five (Dean, Shelley and Brad). In 1970, they moved to Weyburn to live and work. Upon retirement, Russ enjoyed many wonderful years at Pasqua Lake, and finally settled in Regina. Russell and Gertie celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2007. He enjoyed visits with family, fishing and annual trips to Mesquite, Nevada and was a proud Papa to great-granddaughters Maysen and Zoey. Russell will be forever remembered by his son Dean (Heather) of Grenfell, grandchildren Kennen, Lynice and Reed Dorgan and Tanys Archibald (Ryan) and great-grandchild Zoey Archibald. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter Shelley Mabee (Jim), grandchildren Wade Mabee (Trisha), Leah Sterling (Chris) and great-grandchild Maysen Sterling. Russell will be laid to rest with his son Bradley. Honouring Russells request, there will be no funeral. A small gathering for family and close friends will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations may be made, in memoriam, to The Salvation Army, 2240 " 13th Avenue, Regina S4P 3M7.
