Obituary of Francis Bernice Mann

MANN - Francis Bernice Mann died peacefully on February 12, 2008 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 86, after several years of struggling with pulmonary fibrosis. Bernice was born in Regina in 1922 to Frank and Edna (Partridge) Booth, and went to school in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. During WWII, Bernice proudly served in the Women's Royal Naval Service (Wrens), in St. Hyacinthe, Halifax, and Victoria. While stationed in Halifax, she met her future husband Ed Mann, who was an officer also in the Navy. After the war, Bernice worked at the Cancer Clinic in Regina until her marriage to Ed in 1954, and later lived in Ottawa (where she worked for a time at the National Revenue Data Center), in Fort William, and finally in Regina. In recent years, Bernice greatly enjoyed travelling to San Jose, California, to spend time with her grandchildren, son, and daughter-in-law. When at home in Regina, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, her niece Sherry and family, her classmates at the YWCA, and members of her church, Wesley United. Bernice was predeceased by an infant brother, her parents, her husband Ed in 2002, and her brother Ed this year. She is survived by her brother Hal of Victoria, her son Laurie, her daughter-in-law Darleen, and her two pride-and-joy twin grandsons Conlan and Logan, of San Jose, California. In keeping with Bernice's wishes, there will not be a public ceremony. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
