Obituary of Grant Ross Cumbers

CUMBERS " Grant was born December 8, 1919 in Saskatoon, eldest son of Charles and Edna Cumbers and passed away in Regina on February 13, 2008. In 1926 the family moved to Eyebrow where his father was a C.P.R. agent. After high school, Grant completed his education as an architectural draftsman. In 1939 he moved to Regina where he worked for an architectural firm " he decided to pursue architecture. His studies were interrupted by 3 years of war service with the Royal Canadian Engineers. After the war and passing his architectural exams, he worked with B.L.M. Architects for thirty-three years, until his retirement. After retirement he and his wife Roberta lived for 15 years at Regina Beach where they made many friends. Their home was a favorite visiting place for family. When health necessitated a move back to Regina, they finally found a wonderful home at Marian Chateau. Grant will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Roberta; his brother Cliff and his wife Elva; his 3 children, Sandra Shepherd (John), Tom Cumbers (Karen), and Paula Maschek (Pat); his six grandchildren, Tracy, Carla, Jason, Cheryl, Scott, and Kathy; and eleven great grandchildren scattered from Vancouver Island to England. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. Bill Shank officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
