Obituary of James (Jim) Herbert Anderson

ANDERSON - On February 17, 2008, James (Jim) Anderson ended his 7 year battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years June, children Dennis of Edmonton, Nancy (Joe) McNeill of Regina, and Rob (Lana Phillips) and their children Margo and Kyle of Regina. Jim is also survived by his brother Earl (Frieda) of Salmon Arm, his sister Eleanor (Steen) Mortensen of Calgary, sister-in-law Pat Leverick of Saskatoon, and brother and sister-in-law Bob and Barb Williams of Fort Saskatchewan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born December 13, 1928 in Lampman, Saskatchewan. He spent his formative years attending grade school and high school in Lampman, Limerick and Lakenheath. Jim moved to Regina in 1951 to start his career with the Bank of Montreal. While living in Regina, he met his love June, and they were married in May of 1953. He started employment with GMAC and spent 37 wonderful working years helping people to own new cars. This also afforded him the opportunity to drive his own new GM vehicle every year " as cars were one of his passions. After Jims retirement in 1989, Jim and June enjoyed traveling, golfing, curling and like many people from Saskatchewan, the Riders - they had Rider season tickets for nearly a quarter century. Twelve years ago, the first grandchild arrived, and since then countless hours have been spent baby sitting, watching soccer and hockey, and just generally doting on their special treasures. Jim enjoyed helping out in the community, delivering Meals on Wheels for several years, and was very dedicated to St. James Anglican Church where he could be found balancing the books on Sunday, or serving turkey at fowl suppers. He kept busy in his later years with golf, curling and working on the computer and of course having coffee with the boys. But his first love was always his wife June. Much to their chagrin, Jim and Junes children never enjoyed ice skating, for it was while skating that Jim and June met and started their many years together - they spent many afternoons just skating together. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Allen Blair Cancer Clinic and the nurses and staff of Ward 3B at the Pasqua Hospital for their compassionate care. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, 1105 Empress Street, Regina. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Friends of 3B, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
