Obituary of Charles Frank Rudder Jr.

RUDDER - Its with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Charles Frank Rudder Jr. (Frank) February 20, 2008 at the age of 86. Frank was born in York County, Rock Hill, S.C. in 1921. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18. He survived the bombing of Pearl Harbour in WWII, and was honorably discharged at the end of the war in 1944. He returned home and worked as a Butcher, Salesman, Carpenter and finally as an Insulator. He moved his family to Anchorage Alaska in 1955 searching for entrance into the Insulator's Union. Still pursuing that dream, he came to Canada where he was finally admitted into the newly formed International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators, Local 119 in Regina and was one of the early members. In 1956 he started his own insulation business Rudder Mechanical Insulation Ltd.? In 1979 he moved to Fort McMurray, AB and worked in the oil sands as an insulator in Local 110. Upon his retirement he returned to Regina and its prairies and lakes where he pursued his passion of fishing and hunting. Frank was predeceased by his father Charles Frank Rudder Sr., mother Irene Marion (nee Alderman) Rudder, and brother Bobby Rudder. Frank is survived by his brothers, Fred and Jim; and his sister, Margaret Kimbrell; as well as his children, Sandra (Jim) Lane (St. Albert, AB), Angela Thring, and Chuck (Willa) Rudder; grandchildren, Kelly Lane and Chad Lane, Tara (Forman), Kimberly (Bedry) and Andria (Kainz) and Aaron Thring, and Jared Rudder; great- grandchildren Brian, Adam (Bedry), Savannah and Nicholas (Forman), Ethan ( Hutley), Laurrisa and Brianna (Kainz). The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at Pioneer Village for their many years of dedicated and compassionate care for our father, as well the nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina.
