Obituary of Helen Riess

RIESS (Leibel) " Helen A heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that wont forget. Helen Riess of Regina passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on February 22, 2008. She was born on August 15, 1922 in Salvador, Saskatchewan. Helen was predeceased by her parents Philip and Magdalena Leibel, husband Frank (1990), son Jerry (2006), brothers Eugene, Fabian, Philip, Peter and Matthew, and sisters Anne, Elizabeth and Irene. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Del (Carol), Neil (Carol) and Barry (Nancy), and daughter Sandra (Myron). She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Kelly, Jessica, Mikael, Charlie, Daniel (Cindy), Barrett, Bennett, Nicole, Danielle and Ryan, as well as her sister Madeline Heitt, sisters-in-law, Linda Leibel and Gladys Leibel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen always cherished the visits by her children and grandchildren; they were the joy of her life. She kept a sense of humour right up to her final days, and will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Doctor Casey for his compassionate and professional care of Helen over the many years she was his patient, and also the nurses and staff at Elmview Extendicare for their kindness and care in Helens final days. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, with Rev. Bill Mahoney presiding. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
