Obituary of Inez Hendriks

HENDRIKS " Inez Claffey was born on the homestead December 28, 1915 to John and Nellie Claffey, the 13th child of 14. She traveled mostly by horse and democrat or cutter during the winter to Meadow View school. For grade eleven, she and two friends rented a house in Hardy which was a big event, being 4.5 miles away from home and all. Inez stayed home until the age of 24, helping her folks on the farm. In 1942, Mom married Oscar Hendriks and moved to the farm south of Ogema where they farmed until 1985. Mom worked as a telephone switch board operator in Ogema from 1958 to 1964 and in Pangman from 1964 to 1968. She then worked for a short time at the Radville Nursing Home. Mom and Dad moved into Ogema when they retired in 1985. Mom was an active member of the CWL in Ogema. Inez was predeceased by her husband Oscar and daughter Marcella. She is survived by her son, John (Debbie) of Prince Albert, daughter Patricia of Victoria, grandchildren Kevin, Scott (Tracey), Kiley and Kelsey, great-grandchildren Matthew, Sheena, Jesse, Colton and Austin. One of her greatest strengths was the ability to remember so many relatives and friends birthdates, along with family stories. Mom loved to send and receive letters in the mail. Osteoporosis became an extremely painful disease and Mom surrendered to Gods will at 92 years and passed away on March 8, 2008. A viewing will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., at the Ogema Legion Hall, with Father Prince officiating.
