Obituary of Reginald (Hisaji) Sawa

SAWA, Reginald (Hisaji) - It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather on March 18, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Reggie was born on September 23, 1916 in the town of Imadate in the prefecture of Fukui, Japan. Reggie immigrated to Canada in 1934. He spent time in Jasper in an internment camp during the second world war. He later settled in Montreal where he became a chef. He was an avid stamp and coin collector. He loved doing jigsaw puzzles. He was a huge baseball and Montreal Canadiens fan. Reggie was actively participating in all his hobbies as well as cooking right up to the very end. Predeceased by his parents brothers and sisters, he will be sadly missed by his wife Jean; his son Victor (Lesley), daughter Corinne (Barry) Smedley of San Diego and grandchildren Jacob, Mariko and Michiko; and his two remaining sisters in Japan.
