Obituary of John Popescul
JOHN GORDON? POPESCUL
February 9, 1937 - September 16, 2012
Gordon passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2012 with his family by his side. He is survived by his children Cindy (Ray Gilewicz) children Adam, Laura and Grace; Dawn (Lindsay Tolley) children Nigel and Nika; Della (Wayne Melle); John; Jennie; and their mother Patricia. Gordon also leaves his sisters Lee, Pearl, Doddie, Gloria, Cec, Marlene; and brother Bill. He was predeceased by his parents John and Jennie Popescul and siblings Muriel, Peter, Jeanette, and Marjorie. Gordon spent most of his life farming at Kayville until his health declined in 2009 and he moved to Regina. His passion for farming was obvious in the crops he grew and his stewardship of the land. He loved nature, fishing, hockey, shooting gophers, collecting guns and checking crops. Gordon loved when family and friends came to visit showing them around the farm and offering them treats. He was an early riser, hard worker, resourceful, could fix anything, and never gave up. Gordon was a kind and caring man with a calm and gentle nature. He had a strong faith and for many years was the cantor in the Romanian Orthodox Church in Kayville. The family would especially like to thank all the caring and compassionate staff at Selo Gardens care home, which was his home for the past two years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Pasqua Hospital Unit 3B for their care and comfort in Gordons last days. Prayers will be held at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, 1770 St. John Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Father John Maerean officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
