Obituary of Marjorie Cavell Wilson

WILSON " Marjorie C. " Marjorie passed away peacefully at Sunset Extendicare on March 31, 2008, at the age of 91 years, following a brief illness. Born July 31, 1916 at Carievale, SK. Predeceased by her mother, father, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her special niece Carol (Dan) Goretzky of St. Albert, AB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, former colleagues and students. Marj took her school years in Carievale and Glen Ewen, then went on to obtain her teaching certificate in 1937. A 38 year teaching career followed. She taught at many rural areas such as Osage, Estevan, Moosomin, and more, before moving to Regina where she taught at various schools. She retired from Thomson School in 1975. Marj loved to curl, square dance, and play bridge. After she could no longer curl, she never missed a game on T.V. She liked to travel, making trips to Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand and many places in Saskatchewan and Canada. Marj loved to socialize and visit. She said one of the great inspirations in her life was teaching her students and seeing how they succeeded in life. We will miss her and her stories of life. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Memory of Marj to Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Ave., Regina SK, S4N 1B2.
