Obituary of Beverley Anne Klippenstine

KLIPPENSTINE _ Beverley Anne Klippenstine (Blevins) dedicated her life to helping others and sadly for all of us left behind, her good work on this Earth was rewarded all too soon when on April 10, 2008 she was called home to the Lord at the age of 59 after losing her courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Bev was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Predeceased by: her father, Harold Blevins; her brother, Richard Blevins (Dickie); and her motherand farther-inlaw, Dodie and Henry Klippenstine, Bev is survived by: her mother, Ramona Blevins; her brother, Jim Blevins (Gail); her sisterin-laws, Marlene Schmidt (Roy) and Nadine Mielenchuk (Leo); her brother-in-laws, Dale (Connie) and Terry (Eleanor) Klippenstine; her husband, Gordon Klippenstine; her sons, Marc (Hope) and Dwight (Magdalena) Klippenstine, her grandson, Antoni Klippenstine; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, close neighbours, friends, and loved ones. Born and raised in Star City, Saskatchewan, Bev was an active young girl who loved the outdoors, a young lady who was just as interested in cars, trucks and horses as she was in dolls and clothing. Sporting brilliant red hair and a face full of freckles, Bev grew up to be a whimsical and beautiful young woman, a walking, talking testament to her father's Irish ancestry, a lady in the truest sense of the word who always filled her parents with great pride. Bev studied nursing in Saskatoon before working as a nursing assistant at the Regina General Hospital. When her sons, Marc and Dwight, were born, Bev left her profession to care for her children and to babysit for other working moms she knew. Returning to the work world, Bev spent nearly two decades as a home car aid and personal care giver, this time turning her attention and love to the older members of her community. Bev will be remembered as a mom, a wife, a sister and a friend who treasured every moment with those she loved, including her pets. She devoted herself to the Catholic Church, loved to travel and kept tabs on the trials and tribulations of her two favourite sports teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders. A person who could find joy in some of the simplest pleasures of life, Bev enjoyed an occasional soft ice cream cone from the Milky Way as much as a warm-weather vacation in the dead of winter. Mostly, however, she loved to give of her time, her love and her care; in fact, she always seemed happiest when everyone around her felt safe and comfortable. Bev continued to lead an active, healthy life in her most recent years and was determined to win her fight with cancer, working long and hard to prepare herself for the difficult and risky treatment. She knew the risks, but looked forward to the reward of either outcome. Fiercely proud of her sons' many accomplishments, especially their chosen career paths and the loving women they chose to marry, Bev looked forward to watching them raise their families as she had her own, with a steady hand, a loving touch and a healthy dose of wisdom. Tragically, she will not be here to further enjoy her infant grandson, Antoni, but we know she will be guiding his life from above. Special thanks go to her longtime employers, the Hill family of Regina, Cancer Care Regina, the many nurses, doctors and staff at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. A service to celebrate Bev's life will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 1 p.m., at Christ the King Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, Saskatchewan. Lunch and speeches to follow in the hall.
