Obituary of Vivian Kathleen Coons

COONS, Vivian Kathleen March 28, 1919 " April 17, 2008 With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Vivian Kathleen Coons on April 17, 2008 at 89 years of age after a courageous journey with Parkinsons disease. She was born in Tuxford, SK on March 28, 1919 to Hugh and Ellen Gallaugher She was predeceased by her parents, four siblings in infancy and her loving husband of 52 years, Gren, on January 30, 2001. Vivian grew up on the family farm near Tuxford and after completing high school she attended the Success Business College in Moose Jaw. In 1948 she married her husband Gren and in 1950 they were transferred by the CP Railway to Macklin, SK. Her two sons Gary and Greg were born while they were in Macklin. In 1956 the family moved to Weyburn and stayed there until 1962 when they made their final move to Regina. Vivian worked for an accounting firm, a home builder and Saskatchewan Housing where she retired in 1984. Vivian enjoyed spending time in her yard, gardening, entertaining family and friends, trips to Hawaii and winters spent in Arizona. She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Corinne), and grandchildren Kelli and Randi; Greg (Pam) and grandchildren Adam, Jenelle and Mark. For the last seven years Vivian has resided at Erimus Care Home, now Solace Care Home, where she received loving and compassionate care in a home like atmosphere. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Diane Hind and staff, and more recently, Robin Hughes, Shawn Armstrong and staff for their dedication in making a difference in Vivians life. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Rev. Doug Ponto officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vivians memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina S4P 2R3 or the Saskatchewan Parkinsons Disease Foundation, P.O.
