ADAMS " ROBERT AUSTIN Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 8, 1917, Robert is predeceased by his father L. Jerome Adams, his mother Elizabeth, his brother Alan, and his beloved wife Connie Bygrave. Robert is survived by his brother Jerry (Diana), and his sisters, Vivian, Marion and Valerie. Robert, a member of the Regina Flying Club, earned his private Pilots License there in July 1940. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in January 1941. F/L Adams was based in India as Pilot and Training Officer of No. 353 Squadron " Transport Command. Citation recommendation from No. 353 squadron was drafted after F/L Adams had flown 1,801 hours --- 431 in final six months: In completing a large number of flying hours, including 200 on Operational Duty, under varying conditions and through two monsoons, without accident, this Officer displayed efficiency, a knowledge of aviation, and devotion to duty of a very high degree. This knowledge and experience he also applied to his duties as training officer of No. 353 Squadron with excellent results.? The AIR FORCE CROSS " cited for excellence in flying " awarded 14 June 1945. Post-war, F/L Adams was a Pilot in Transport Command whose duties included flying Diplomats of various nations to San Francisco to attend meetings on the formation of the United Nations. Following this, Robert was finally able to pursue his original goal of a teaching career. This aim he ultimately achieved with Degrees earned from Universities in Toronto and Montreal.
