Obituary of Earl Johnston

JOHNSTON " E. Trevor of Regina passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2008. He leaves behind to cherish his love: wife and best friend, Tracy; children: Jamie, Christy (John) Ross, and Morgan (Lisa); five grandchildren: Zade Nadon, Cambree, Capriann, and Nathaniel Ross, and Lhea Rae Johnston; sisters: Gaylene (Bernie) Wilkinson, Erin (Keith) Hopkin; brother-in-law Andy Idema, and several nieces and nephews. Trev was a master teacher; not only in the career he chose, but in the way he lived his life. He taught us all about the true meaning of love, family, courage, devotion, compassion, patience, risk-taking, laughter, music and the joy of living each day to its fullest. Mr. J shared his enthusiasm for sports with many of his students. His other passions included the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Cougar basketball teams, movies, folk festivals and concerts, travel, politics, scrabble, bridge, reading, and taking classes at the University of Regina Centre for Continuing Education. However, his true devotion was to his wife and best friend Tracy, to his children and grandchildren, and to his many friends. Music and laughter filled the Johnston home and company was always welcome. He was always ready to read a story, play a game, take the kids to the latest movie or sit by the fire and visit. The presence of this kind, good man, will always be felt proudly by everyone who loved him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Bester, who was not only a family doctor but a true friend, and Dr. Kaban and Dr. McMillan who ensured Trevs last few days were peaceful and comfortable. Thanks to the nurses and caregivers at the Regina General Hospital on Unit 5E. Your care and compassion did not go unnoticed. Also, a special thank you to the physical therapists at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and to the Home Care staff who made each day a little easier for Trev, and to the guys at Independent Living who kept him active and able to travel in style. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family only will take place at Riverside Memorial Park. A Celebration of Trevs Life for anyone wishing to attend will be held on Friday, May 30th, 2:00 p.m. at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina. Flowers and donations gratefully declined. In memory of Trev, please go for a run or a walk, fly a kite, ride a bike, dance or be active in a way Trevs body had not allowed him to be for over thirty years. Enjoy the wind in your face and the earth under your feet. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
