Obituary of Elmer Otto Bannman

BANNMANElmer Otto Bannman passed away peacefully on June 7, 2008 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Peggy; parents, Gustav and Hulda Bannman; brothers, Robert and Donald; sister, Betty; and son, Douglas. Al, as everyone knew him, is survived by his son, Glen; grandchildren, Melanie, Jenna, Chelsea; (Donna) Mark and Jeff; sisters, Joan (Joel) Lovelin and Jean Smith. Al was raised, and worked, on farms in the Lang and Zehner area, joined the air force in 1941, and served 4 years. He returned to Saskatchewan, started a trucking company, with his brother, Don, to La Ronge, and then settled in Regina, and raised a family while he worked for the CPR for 36 years. He is remembered by all who knew him as a quiet, hard working man, who enjoyed, at different stages in his life, curling, square dancing, serving as a cub leader, traveling, golfing, a swim club, cards and ice cream. He was most content though, just staying home with family. For the last two years he has received wonderful care at 3-6 Wascana. Thanks to all of you. He will be missed, but is now reunited with his life mate. Flowers gratefully declined, friends so wishing may make a donation, in memoriam, to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 150 Albert Street, Regina, S4R 2N2, the Canadian Cancer Society,1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, S4P 2R3, or charity of your choice in Als name. There will be a private, family interment, at a later date at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com .
