Obituary of Lorne Wallace Glendinning

GLENDINNING " Lorne W. passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 8, 2008, the day before his 82nd birthday, at the Regina General Hospital, with his family by his side. Lorne is survived by his wife Veryl. He has a special place in the heart of his niece Frankie Jordan (Ray Finlay) and children Rick, Rob, Ryan, Krista and Scott. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including John (Betty) and Marie Glendinning, Shirley Smith; Glen, Jim, Betty Ann and Patricia Brown; Velma Gustafson and Derwood Geib and Marge, James, Davey, Lorne Wishart. As well, he will be remembered by Veryls children Jade Tribe and Gene Uhl, their six children and their three children. Lorne was predeceased by his first wife Frances (Wishart) Glendinning in 1991, his parents, his five brothers, one sister, and one nephew. Lorne was born in the Strasbourg district and took his schooling in Strasbourg. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He first worked for PFRA and then found his niche in the provincial Department of Agriculture for 35 years. He loved all his positions with government, especially the work that took him out of the office and into the field. In his leisure time Lorne loved to travel, golf and curl and found a great void in his life when poor health did not allow him to participate in these pastimes. He was an avid reader " well known for finishing a book in a day. Lorne actively followed the stock market, making many shrewd investments. He loved his times with family and friends. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at Broadway Terrace, 1150 Broadway Avenue on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lois Munholland officiating. Flowers gratefully declined.
