Obituary of Doreen Mary Mae Bureau

BUREAU, Doreen, born November 20, 1933 in Shellmouth, MB, passed away peacefully June 10, 2008 at sunset after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer. Doreen is predeceased by her parents John and Veda Phillips; her son Franck; sisters Phyllis and Shirley; brother Arthur Phillips and twin brothers, shortly after birth. Doreen leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Julien (Duffy); daughters Leslie (Rick) and Bonita (Gerry); son Tracey (Gerrie); grandchildren, Michael, Rick, Stephanie, Randi and Kandyce; brothers, Lyle, George, Lloyd, Robert; sister Helen; and her special feline friend Boots. Mom worked long and hard for many years so that her family would have a quality of life far better than she had growing up in the dirty thirties and during the Second World War. Doreen always had kind words for others and would never hesitate to help those less fortunate. Mom was proud of our accomplishments and always encouraged us to be kind to others, to take responsibility for our actions and to be independent in this world. Moms life experience storytelling captivated us and her grandchildren to the point where requests to hear her stories were endless. Mom had a quick wit and her sense of humor was second to none. Mom, until we meet again . The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and doctors in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, the staff at Casa Bella Personal Care Home and We Care.
