Obituary of Filomena Galassi

FILOMENA GALASSI (nee Ricci) July 27, 1921 September 28, 2012 Filomena, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the age of 91 years. She was born and raised at Villa Ricci in Teramo, Abruzzi, located in Italy. Filomena married the love of her life, Angelo Galassi, in the early 1950s. They had two children together, a son and daughter. Angelo moved to Canada in the late 1950s to build a home for his family. Filomena and the children moved to Canada in 1960. For approximately 25 years, she worked as a cooks helper. After she retired, she loved spending her time helping to raise her nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Filomena adored visiting her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She also had a love for animals, especially birds. Filomena was predeceased by her husband Angelo; parents Fortunato and Maria Ricci; younger brother Sandino; and oldest brother Nicola. In Italy, she is survived by her brothers Vingenzo and Mario and sister Giacinda. In Canada, she is survived by her son Bernardo Sid? Galassi; daughter Fioretta Florence? (Brian) Gordon; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends. Mrs. Filomena Galassi was known for her big heart and will be sadly missed. Prayers will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
