Obituary of Gerald Joseph MacLennan

MacLENNAN - It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) MacLennan on June 21, 2008. Jerry was born in Lebret, SK. Oct. 5, 1925. He was predeceased by his parents Angus and Agnes and his brothers Don and Dr. Myles MacLennan. Jerry served with the Navy in the D.E.M.S. Branch from 1942 " 1946, in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. After furthering his education he went to work for Sask-Tel. He retired in 1989 after 40 years of service, where he was Marketing Manager for many years. Jerry was very involved with volunteer community work, where he coached minor hockey and baseball. Jerry also served as an executive of the Sask. Tennis Assoc. and was a co-founder of the Junior Optimist Tennis Club. He was active with the United Way and was a member of the Regina Golf Club. In addition he was a member of the Kinsmen Club, later joining the Kiwanis Club where he reached the position of Western Canada Governor. This position afforded Jerry and Eileen the opportunity to visit many countries around the world. A favorite winter destination was Mexico and more recently Vancouver. Jerry was 82 years old and is survived by his loving wife Eileen, daughter Sherry (Lawrie) of Vancouver, sons, Dr. Myles (Loren) of Saskatoon, Darren (Eve) of Toronto, and seven adoring grandchildren, Sam, Kate, Elle, Sophia, Vivian, Ava, and Mimi. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. James (Rose) McLennan, Vancouver. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ the King R.C. Church with Rev. Yodel Cereno celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park, Soldiers Plot. An on line book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
