Obituary of Beryl Grace Stewart

STEWART " Beryl Grace Stewart (nee OGorman) born August 12, 1921 in Darlington County Durham, England, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Educated in England she took Psychiatric Nursing and in World War II she trained Convoy Lorry drivers. When she immigrated from England in 1955 she worked at Moose Jaw General Hospital and then moved on to work at the Moose Jaw Clinic for a variety of doctors until 1965 when she met and married the love of her life, Allan and moved out to the farm at Kelstern, Sk until they moved to Regina in 1974. Beryl was involved in the Royal Purple and Daughters of the Nile. Her beautiful voice was lent to many occasions from weddings to various ceremonial events. Beryl enjoyed the many vacations her and Allan took to the U.K., Alaska, Phoenix, Hawaii, California, the East Coast and traveling the highways and byways of Saskatchewan with the Gopher? Trailer Club. From the time she left England her and her best friend Lydia wrote daily especially on the updates of Coronation Street! She was thrilled to bits when in 1965 her first grandchild Kerrie was born and again in 1967 when her second grandchild Shauna was born. In 1991 Beryl suffered a stroke and this eventually caused her to spend the last years of her life at Sunset Extendicare. Predeceased by her parents Gladys and Harry Glasby. Beryl is survived by her husband Allan Stewart of Regina; her brother, Jim (Joan) Salmon of Portsmouth, England; sister Hilda Lougheed of Eyebrow, SK; daughters Jacqueline Walter of Okotoks, AB, Louisa J. L. DeSausmarez of Guernsey, Channel Islands; granddaughters, Kerrie Walter of Okotoks, AB and Shauna Walter of Burnaby, BC; great grandchildren, Willow Grace and Zachary Allan of Burnaby, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Ooi, Dr. Rasmussen and the staff at Sunset Extendicare who took care of Beryl. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina (please use College Avenue Entrance).
