Obituary of Robert Condon McKenzie

MCKENZIE _Robert (Bert) McKenzie passed away on Wednesday, July 9, at the Pioneer Village, after a short illness. Bert was born in Regina on November 4, 1916. He grew up in Regina and graduated from Campion Collegiate. He studied aeronautical engineering at the U. of Minnesota, where he played hockey with the national champion Gophers. He graduated in 1940 with a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree. Bert spent four years with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, first as an engineering officer and later as a pilot. After the War, he was manager at McKenzie Auto Equipment Ltd. in Regina. Bert was a charter member of Lakeview United Church, a long-time member of Rotary International, and a past president of Wascana Golf and Country Club. He was an avid watercolour painter and sports enthusiast. Bert is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Margaret McKenzie, and his brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly, and by his children, Karen (Paul) Stillwell of Arnold, Maryland, and Bob (Tess) McKenzie of Manila, Philippines. Also, he is survived by his grandchildren, Joe (Loren) Stillwell of Chicago, Rob Stillwell of New York City, Jim Stillwell of Washington, D.C., Karen Lena McKenzie of Manila, and one greatgrandson, Archer Stillwell of Chicago. There will be a private graveside service for the immediate family. Flowers and memorial gifts are gratefully declined.
