Obituary of Norman Sykes

SYKES, Norman It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norman Sykes July 13, 2008 at William Albert House. Norman was born June 4, 1910 in Oldham, England. His mother died when he was only 6 years old. At the age of 10 he came to Canada with his family. He first met Mary Rosamond Wilson at school when he was 14. They were married July 22, 1937. Norman served with the Air Force as an air engine mechanic during World War II. After the war he farmed in the Rowatt district until retirement. Norman was predeceased by his mother, Alice Sykes; parents, Percy and Sarah; brother, Hervey and his wife Elsie; sister-in-law, Bertie and husband, Gilbert Pearson; brother-in-law, Woody Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Emma Sykes Chandler. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Bob (Judy), Fred (Gladys) and Gary (Judy); grandchildren, Jeff (Maureen), Chris, Andrea (Scott), Lisa (Keely), Laurie (Chris), Stephen, Greg (Tracey) and Mike (Janice); great-grandchildren, Sam, Jessica, Astrid, Nigel, Naomi, Emily and Aden; sister-in-law, Edith. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Rev. Jack Bray officiating. Interment in Regina Cemetery.
