Obituary of Hazel Luella Day

DAY, Hazel Luella (Colhoun/Froats) quietly slipped away on Friday, July 18, 2008 after a short and difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Luella, predeceased by her first husband William Albert (Bill) Colhoun, sister Irene, brother Harvey and many other close family members whom she cherished throughout her lifetime, is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Chester Day;children Cherene and Jerry Schiller, David and Judy Colhoun, Carol and Danny Wilson, Douglas and Cheryl Colhoun, Norma and Murray MacLeod; and step-children Marilyn and Keith Boyd, and Dennis and Geri Day. Lue greatly enjoyed fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Erma and Stan Magnusson, sister-in-law Evelynn Colhoun, as well as many nieces and nephews who she spent wonderful time with over the years. She was a youthful and vibrant woman and her love has shone brilliantly on those she held close for the past 86 years. Her courage and strength throughout her lifetime, an incredible legacy, was never as amazingly apparent as in her final weeks and days of life. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandparent, and friend, those closest will forever feel the emptiness and loss of her passing. A lover of fun and laughter her greatest joy and passion was being surrounded by her family. Always unconditional with her affections, she provided an inspiring role model to live life to the fullest. Her journey has touched many lives and her goodness will be eternally remembered. Those who loved her are incredibly blessed. Our great loss is heavens' gain and will forever remain close in our hearts and a constant reminder of what is truly important in this lifetime. Our gratitude and thanks to the wonderfully compassionate and caring staff of William Booth Regina Wascana Grace Hospice. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Cliff Geiger officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to William Booth Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina S4R 8P6.
