Obituary of John Melvin Hodder

HODDER, John Melvin (Mel) passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2008 with his family by his side, at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by his brother Kent; his parents Stan and Irene. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 52 years, Judy; son Jack (Shirley); daughter Rhonda (Wayne); and granddaughter Kelsi. He will be missed by sister-in-law Joyce Hodder; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the many close friends he made over the years. Mel was born at Rouleau Hospital on April 22, 1929. He attended school in Rouleau and lived on the farm. Mel graduated from the College of Agriculture, U of S in 1950, then marrying Judy Toth in 1955. Mel was a dedicated member of The Rouleau United Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44, Wheat Pool, Wilcox Co-op and Rouleau Housing Authority. He served as President or executive in many of these organizations. Mel was a lifelong curling, football and hockey fan. He had season tickets for the Regina Pats since 1956 and was a loyal supporter of the team. Funeral Service will be held at Rouleau United Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 with Pastor Jo Mader officiating.
