Obituary of Robert Blair Pelling

PELLING - It is with deep sorrow we announce the death of Bob Pelling in the early morning of Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at his home and surrounded by his treasured family. Bob will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Born in Winnipeg, Bob moved to Regina as a young child. Sports, always a large part of Bob's life, included time spent playing junior hockey with the Regina Abbotts, fastball with Barker's Jewelers and football with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also enjoyed various other athletic activities including curling and golf, with many years as a member of the Wascana Country Club. Bob and his family spent happy years at their cottage at Katepwa Lake where Bob enjoyed sailing and other water sports, as well as pursuing his love of gardening and painting. Bob served many organizations including Regina Kinsmen Club, the YMCA, the Assiniboia Club, the Wa Wa Shriners, and was a longtime member of Lakeview United Church. Bob worked as an electrical contactor, owning and operating Pelling Electric Ltd. for over 40 years. Following retirement, Bob was able to pursue his life-long passion of painting, and became an accomplished artist. He was proud of his association with the Prairie Artists Guild. Bob is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter Traci (Ross) Mahoney and their children Michael and Caitlyn; son Tim (Took) and their daughter Nawinda of Bangkok, Thailand; son Andrew; brother Don (Vicky) of Ladysmith, BC; as well as other relatives and many friends. A service in celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Kitchen officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Wa Wa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina S4P 2E1, or a charity of their choice.
