Obituary of Frieda Bakes

BAKES - Frieda Bakes (nee Kornelson) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and long time resident of Regina, on September 10, 2008 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob in 1947, sisters, Alma and Evelyn; brothers, Arthur, Gordon and Vernon; and son-in-law Jerald Hinz. Frieda spent her early years supporting and raising her three girls. Frieda had a classic sense of taste and an appreciation of quality, which was reflected in everything she did. Her favorite activities were gardening, bowling, needlework, and playing many games of canasta with family and friends. She will always be remembered by her family, daughters, Marjorie (Harold) Hinz, Eleanor Bakes and Audrey Hinz; brother Rev. Wilmer Kornelson; sister Dorothy Conrad; grandchildren, Wendy (Dale) Besser, Wesley Hinz, JoAnn (Tim) McCannell, Murray (Lynn) Hinz, and Dr. Dwayne (Nadia) Hinz; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Derek, Rachelle and Shane. A special thank you to Eleanor, who showered her with love and attention over the years, and was there for her every need. The family would also like to thank the care-givers at Extendicare Parkside for the kindness shown to our mom. A public viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. A private family service and interment will be take place at Regina Cemetery, officiated by her brother Rev. Wilmer Kornelson.
