Obituary of John Hilding Svenson

SVENSON - John Hilding Svenson passed away peacefully on September 16, 2008 at the Pasqua Hospital at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife, Gretta who died in October 1995; John is survived by his sons - Kenneth (Grace) of Regina, Walter (Sherry) of Chesterville, Ontario, Reed (Heather) of Barrhead, Alberta, Glen (Dixie) of Raymond, Alberta, Rodney (Wendy) of Brooks, Alberta and daughters - Marjorie Jenner of Sacramento, California, Elaine (Robert) Northcott of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Anita (Randy) Paxman of Del Bonita, Alberta. John's parents were immigrants from Sweden and spoke only Swedish in the home. They came to Canada in 1907 and purchased some land and established a farm at Orton, Alberta, near Fort Macleod, where John was born June 11, 1912. He grew up there, married his childhood sweetheart, Gretta Sillito, and moved to a quarter section of irrigated land in the Rosemary area (near Brooks, Alberta) where he raised his family of 8 children. He was active in community life and gave extensive service. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 AM, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2008 IN THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS AT 550 SANGSTER BOULEVARD, IN REGINA.
