Obituary of George Douglas Currie

Currie, George Douglas George died in the early hours of September 17, 2008. George is lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, his children Aletha, Ulysses, Paul [Cathie], Adrian [Don], Kirsten [JP] and thirteen grandchildren. George is also survived by his sister Aletha and numerous nieces and nephews. George will be remembered for his passion for life, and for his love for his family, Prince Edward Island, gardening and cribbage. One of his favourite expressions was "It's great to be alive! and our family heard this often, especially following a lobster dinner, a glass of Drambuie and a cigar. After serving in the Canadian military in WWII, George joined the RCMP. During his career, he was posted at many locations in Manitoba, as well as Regina and Edmonton. He retired with the rank of Superintendent at "K Division in Edmonton. George will be buried in the RCMP cemetery at Depot, Regina, SK. There will be no service at his request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta. An on-line book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
