Obituary of Eva Brigitte Hildegard Davis

DAVIS - Eva (Brigitte Hildegard) Davis , we miss you. Nobody was kinder. Nobody's smile lit up a room like yours. You held everybody together with your beautiful heart. We believe you simply ran out of love, that in 51 years you had given it all away when you died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at your Regina home, embraced by sons Austin and Tanner, husband Darrell, parents Mike and Hilda Kontz and brother Reg. Also loving you are your sisters-in-law Liane, Crispin and Debbie, your brothers-in-law Brad and Dave, your nieces Marilyn and Michelle, nephews Matt and Jace and your god-daughter Delaney. Your loss is felt by your wonderful friends and co-workers, by Carla and the other angels at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Bob and Tina and the caregivers of Palliative Home Care, Pastor Lindsay and the congregation at Trinity Lutheran, everyone at Luther College High School, your seat-mates for Roughriders games and along the sidelines at R.E.U. soccer games. Tanner figures God's soccer team must have needed a good manager. He is getting more than that. He's getting someone who is always there, someone who can always be counted on, someone who could book the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for your wedding reception right after the group's 1986 Grammy nomination. We're trying to thank everyone who has been caring for us during the 14 years since your first cancer diagnosis. We can't thank them all individually, but we needed their strength. We're remembering two years ago, right after your second bout with chemotherapy, how you walked 60 km during a two-day cancer fund-raiser in Calgary . We're talking about the concerts you attended, the baseball games you watched (Go Cubbies, eh?) recalling your trips to Chicago, California, Florida, Tennessee, the Dominican Republic, Spain, all the CFL cities with Darrell and to Red Lodge, Montana, where you barely survived a head-first, on-your-back, 150-yard skid into the trees down an hellacious ski run called True Grit. We were lucky we got four more years after that tumble. We're going to use everything you taught us. Thank you. We love you. We know you didn't want any flowers. Memorial donations can by made to Breast Cancer Action Saskatchewan, 2318 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina S4V 2P5, or Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 1A5. A family interment at Riverside Cemetery will be held Friday morning. Visitation is Thursday, October 2 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Lindsay Hognestad at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street, Regina.
