Obituary of Carroll Franklin Chlopan

Carroll Franklin Chlopan 1933 - 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Carroll (Carl) Chlopan on September 29, 2008, after a brief illness. Carroll was born and raised near Ridgedale, Saskatchewan. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in pharmacy in 1956. After practicing his profession for seven years: Fletcher's Drugs (Yorkton), McNeill's Drugs (Regina,) and co- owner of Jolly Drugs (Regina), he entered into a partnership to establish Bi-Rite Drugs. His compassion and care for others was demonstrated throughout his entire life and through his tireless devotion to service organizations. Carroll joined Eastview Rotary in 1964, where he was active on several committees and served as President. He was a dedicated parishioner at Saint Matthew Anglican Church and an active volunteer for Soul's Harbour Mission, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Salvation Army. While a practicing pharmacist, he served on the Pharmacy Board for National Drugs as the Saskatchewan representative. As well he fulfilled nine years on the Saskatchewan Formulary Committee. Since his retirement, he has been active with the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Museum Society Inc. Carroll was a wonderful husband to his wife Kathy and a proud father of his four children: daughter Lesley Magnus (Randy), son Richard Chlopan (Lisa), son Scott Chlopan and daughter Barbara Diaz (Felipe). He adored his granddaughter Halle Chlopan as well as his step-grandchildren, Ryan and Christian Magnus and Madeleine and Lena Diaz. He will be missed by his sister Eve Strain (Ray) and special niece and nephew, Seana and Tim Strain and many relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of the Pasqua ICU and ward 6F at the General Hospital for the excellent care that Carroll received. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Matthew Anglican Church, 2161 Winnipeg Street, on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Canon Blair Dixon officiating. In keeping with Carroll's kind and caring nature, those wishing may make a donation to Regina Eastview Rotary Community Service Committee, Box 1623, Regina, SK S4P 3C4.
