GERMAIN - William (Bill) Germain, born Wasyl German on October 24, 1919, passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on November 7, 2008, just a few weeks after celebrating his 89th birthday. Mr. Germain is survived by his three children, Adam (Dianne) Germain of Edmonton, Elaine Husk (Germain) of Regina and Gwen (Gerry Mowatt) Germain; seven grandchildren, Jay Husk, Darryl Husk, Tamye (Jason) Dunbar, David Vansickle, Sean (Talara) Germain, Sheldon (Gerarda) Germain, Scott (Leanne) Germain; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, Lena Paulenko of Winnipeg, Vera Waller of Thunder Bay and Dora Unguarian of Russell, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his wife, Eva and three brothers, Jimmy, George and Fred. Mr. Germain was born and raised on a farm in the Inglis - Russell area of Manitoba. He was a Second World War veteran who came to Regina in the mid 50s and lived in Regina up to his death. He worked as a dry cleaner and later a custodian at the Medical Arts Building. He was an optimistic individual with a mischievous smile, an infectious laugh and a song on his lips. He embraced life to the fullest. Despite the pain he endured his last few months, he never stopped smiling, laughing, or singing. Mr. Germain was an active member of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Regina and the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Club. He leaves behind many friends and family to mourn his passing. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, 1770 St. John Street, Regina with Rev. Fr. John Maerean officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, individuals who wish to do so may make a donation to their favorite charity.
