Obituary of Magdalene Kaminski

Kaminski - On Thursday November 13, 2008 Magdalene passed on peacefully with her loving family by her side after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 80 years young. Magdalene was one of eleven children born to Flora and Stephan Dornian near Outram SK . Magdalene left home at an early age and worked at hospitals in Regina and then for three years in Calgary before moving back to Regina. In 1954 she married Victor Kaminski in Regina where they worked and raised a family of five daughters. Magdalene was first and foremost a wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting her families needs ahead of her own. Magdalene loved to cook, sew, crochet, craft, cake decorating, entertaining her friends, go to bingo and volunteering her time. She kept very busy caring for her family and home as well as working in various positions at Safeways. Mom and Dad were able to travel extensively together and later with her brothers and sisters. Magdalene was predeceased by parents, her husband Victor, siblings John, Kathleen, Paul, Elaine (in infancy). She is survived by her daughters Gayle (Randy) Posehn, Sharon MacDonald, Terry (Kevin) Harty, Vicki Kaminski and Deanna Kaminski. She is also survived by her grandchildren Chris (Monique) Posehn, Jennifer Posehn, Jeremy and Jackie MacDonald, Tracie Kaminski, Jayden and Lorraine Harty. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jordan Kaminski, Faith and Jordan Posehn. She also leaves to mourn her siblings Mary Wolff, Rose Mooney, Art (Alma) Dornian, Steven (Terry) Dornian, Helen (Norman) Wolff and George Dornian; sisters-in-law Marian Dornian, Jean Dornian, Alvina Leippi, Nora Kaminski, Margaret Rieger and Minnie Kaminski, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers will take place on Sunday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 935 McCarthy Blvd. N., Regina with internment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to William Booth Wascana Grace Hospice 50 Angus Road, Regina S4R 8P6. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Wascana Grace Hospice for their loving, kind, compassionate and professional care given to Magdalene during her stay with them.
