Obituary of Kathleen Ann Coombs

COOMBS " Kathleen (Kay) Ann Coombs of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK, at the age of 91 years. Kay was predeceased by her parents Alex and Charlotte Milne; her husband George in 1984; her sisters Margaret (Alec) Johnson and Mary (Gordon) West; her son Barrie in 1987 and daughter-in-law Joanne in 2007. Kay is survived by her son Don, of Regina; granddaughters: Tamara (Mark) Kruk and children Easton and Elise, Andrea (Gordon) Funk and Jennifer (Shawn) Scarcello and son Henry, all of Winnipeg; nephew Ivan (Maureen) Johnson and daughters Carla and Lisa, late Bryan (Diana) Johnson and sons Colin and Trent; and extended family, Jim Putz. Kay was born in Winnipeg on June 23, 1917 and moved to Regina with her family to attend high school. Kay married George in 1943, they lived in Ottawa and Halifax before returning to Regina. Kay had an active career with the Government of Saskatchewan and when she retired volunteered at the Red Cross and was active in the United Church Women at Lakeview United Church. Kay also enjoyed curling and was able to attend the Silver Broom both in Canada and Europe. Kay moved into Mutchmor Lodge, Regina in 2005 and was very appreciative of the kindness and warmth of the staff and Homecare health professionals. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Lakeview United Church Chapel, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina, with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 " 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
