Obituary of Agnes Elizabeth Schaefer

SCHAEFER - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes (nee Karwandy) Schaefer on August 20, 2006, at the age of 84. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Leonard, her son Gordon; her parents Rosalia (nee Burger) and Nicholas Karwandy, her sisters Elizabeth Benson and Mary Currier; her brother Frank Karwandy, her brothers-in-law Jack Kattler and Art Currier; her nephews, Don and Billy Karwandy; sisters-in-law, Ida and Beatrice Schaefer, brothers-in-law Martin, Steve, Peter and Lawrence Schaefer and Tony Goski. Agnes will be greatly missed by her loving children, son Lloyd and his wife Val; her daughter Carolyn; her brothers and their wives, John and Yolande, Wendel and Barb, Claude and Ethel Karwandy; her sister and her husband, Eunice and Carl Marosits; and her sister-in-law, Lil Karwandy. She will also be missed by her in-laws, Tony and Ann Schaefer, George and Valerie Schaefer, Bernadine Goski, John and Carrie Schaefer, and Ella Schaefer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to her "spare kid and friend, Colleen Slater-Smith, for all her support. We are deeply appreciative to all the staff on the 2nd floor at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home for the care and kindness shown Agnes during her stay there. We are especially grateful for the excellent care, kindness and generosity shown to both Agnes and her family during Agnes final hours. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2006. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the chapel at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, 4215 Regina Avenue on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Koep presiding as celebrant. A private interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. If family and friends wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation to Pastoral Care or to the Second Floor Nursing Department, Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina SK, S4S 0J5, or to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, #301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated.
