Obituary of Evelyn Agnes McGillivray

McGILLIVRAY - Evelyn Agnes (Morrison) passed away on Monday August 21, 2006, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Margaret Morrison, husband Donald, sister Hazel Dey, and son-in-law Michael Gilhooly. Evelyn is survived by her son Morley (Jasna) of Vancouver, and daughters Pat Gilhooly of Regina, and Diane Ollmann of Toronto, grandchildren Greg (MaryAnne), Dawn (Chris), Doug (Louise), Angela (Clint), Derek (Carly), Mya, 9 great-grand children, brother Norman (Gen) Morrison of Regina, brother-in-law Melvin (Lillian) McGillivray of Moose Jaw, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be fondly remembered by Simon and Jane Vanderstoel and their family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and her extended family. They will cherish her kind and loving way forever. Evelyn was born Feb 1, 1914 in the Cottonwood district of Pense. She moved to Regina with her family where she attended Scott Collegiate and Regina Normal School. After returning to the area to teach, she married Donald McGillivray. They farmed there until 1956, and then moved to Regina where she worked as a Ward Clerk at the Grey Nuns Hospital. Upon retirement, she enjoyed curling, golfing at the Lakeview Par 3 and continued her involvement as an active member of Lakeview United Church. After her husband Donald passed away in 1999, she moved to the Marion Chateau and was one of the original residents. Seven special years were spent there with both new and old friends. A memorial service will be held in her honor at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Ave. Regina, Monday, August 28, 2006, at 2:00PM. The family wishes to thank the staff at Marion Chateau, Dr. Z. L. Kaliszky and the 5A nursing staff at the Regina General Hospital, the doctors and nursing staff at the William Booth Grace Hospice and Dr. S. Bester for the excellent care that Evelyn received. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Saskatchewan Division, 150 Albert St., Regina, S4R 2N2 or William Booth Special Care Home, Attn. Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Rd. Regina, S4R 8P6.
